Stone Temple Pilots with New Vocalist Jeff Gutt: First Tour Dates Announced

Stone Temple Pilots have announced their first round of tour dates with their new singer, Jeff Gutt. Gutt — a former contestant on the reality singing competition The X Factor — made his debut with the band last month, following a year of rumors that he had the gig.

These are relatively small rooms by STP standards, so we can assume the trek is meant as a warm-up/reaction gauge. It will be interesting to see how quickly, if at all, these shows sell out. Will the STP brand carry the day? Does anyone care about the new guy? My gut (pun intended) instinct is that he’s destined to meet the same fate as Gary Cherone or Dan Nelson, but you know me, I’m always cynical about everything.
