Transgender Metal Vocalist Danica Roem Wins Election to Virginia House of Delegates!
Virginia House of Delegates candidate Danica Roem — who is transgender and fronts the metal band Cab Ride Home — has defeated the incumbent Delegate Robert Marshall, becoming Virginia’s first openly transgender elected official and America’s first openly transgender elected state official!
The Hill reports that Roem led Marshall by 10 points with more than 90% of ballots having been counted as of 8:20pm EST. She joins Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam as a Democrat in the state to have taken back a position previously held by Republicans this Election Day.
Marshall ran a particularly nasty campaign against Roem, refusing to call her a woman and criticizing her for her involvement with metal.
This is a huge day for transgdender people and, to a lesser extent (although more relevant to this website) metalheads. Huge congratulations to Roem and her team! Infernal hails!
