Listen to Trivium’s New Song “Betrayer”
On last week’s episode of The MetalSucks Podcast, Trivium mainman Matt Heafy says the band’s upcoming new album The Sin and The Sentence is currently his favorite of the band’s whole discography. He goes on to acknowledge the cliche of that sentiment — every dude in a band says their newest album is their favorite — but then digs in, defending the album’s songs as some of the best they’ve ever written.
Listen to the new song “Betrayer” and you’ll see why. This is easily my favorite of the three songs to be released from the album so far, “The Heart From Your Hate” and the title track being the other two. It’s got a classic kind of Trivium vibe; really brings me back to Shogun, and to a slightly lesser degree Ascendancy. The riffs are tight and the song is catchy as hell.
Check out “Betrayer” below. The Sin and the Sentence comes out October 20 on Roadrunner. Pre-order it here. The band launches a co-headlining tour with Arch Enemy a week later; get dates here!
