Classic Chimaira Line-Up Announces Reunion Show
Chimaira’s breakthrough album was called The Impossibility of Reason, not The Impossibility of Reunion. So ain’t nobody gonna fault the band’s most well-known line-up — Mark Hunter (vocals), Rob Arnold (guitars), Matt DeVries (guitars), Jim LaMarca (bass), Chris Spicuzza (synths/programming/etc.), and Andols Herrick (drums) — for getting back together. Even if it ends up being only for one night.
Astute fans have noticed that at least one member of the band has been teasing a reunion on social media, but The PRP has now confirmed that the New Wave of American Heavy Metal marauders “will be performing at the Agora Theatre in Cleveland, OH on December 30th, 2017.” Although I’ve yet to hear anyone call the event ‘Chimaira Christmas,’ this is, for all intents and purposes, the return of Chimaira Christmas, the band’s annual holiday season hometown extravaganza.
More importantly, it will be the first time that this version of the band has performed together since 2011. And even more importantly than that, it would seem to indicate that Herrick, who has been fighting a debilitating illness, is on the mend (or at least well enough to play drums for an extended period of time).
As a massive Chimaira fanboy, I am insanely jealous of Cleveland peeps who get to enjoy this show. Fingers crossed it leads to new music or, creepy bug dude from The Resurrection cover willing, a tour.
