Blues Sabbath: Black Sabbath Might Make a Blues Record
Even though Black Sabbath are supposed to be retired now, they may not be because of course they’re not.
In a new interview with Music Radar, bassist Geezer Butler reveals that the band actually had plans for one more album after 13 — which they postponed:
“The follow-up to ‘13′ was going to be a blues album, but the tour got in the way. It would take something like two or three years to do it properly, and we thought we might not all be here by that time, so it would be better to do this final tour first and then maybe we’ll do a blues record later.”
Now, I’m assuming when he says “blues album,” Butler means a collection of blues covers — y’know, kinda like what The Rolling Stones just did. Assuming that’s the case, then the idea that it would still take a few years to make baffles me. The material is written. They literally just need to figure out their own arrangements and record it. I know they’re old and probably tire easily, but surely they could pull it off in a few months, right?
Anyway. I guess we’ll see if this actually happens or not. Stay tuned.
