Check Out This 8-Bit Cover of System of a Down’s “Aerials”
Did Tongo’s recent vocal cover of System of a Down’s “Chop Suey!” blow you away? How about Bob n’ Bev’s rendition of “Radio Video” from a couple of years back?
This 8-bit cover of “Aerials” goes in a completely different direction — it displays some musical acumen, for one — but it’s no less enjoyable in its analog, NES-tastic glory. The YouTube channel that put it out, 8 Bit Universe, is a treasure trove for covers of this sort: Iron Maiden’s “The Trooper,” Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality” and Quiet Riot’s “Cum on Feel the Noize” (originally by Slade, of course) are just a few of the selections that metalheads should find interesting, with literally hundreds of songs in other genres posted as well.
Meanwhile, we all wait with bated breath for System of a Down’s next album, which would be their first in twelve years if it’s released in 2017; it’ll be a huge release sure to chart on Billboard’s Top 200 when it comes out. In an interview with Kerrang towards the end of last year, drummer John Dolmayan revealed the band already had 15 tracks written for the next record.
