Bandcamp to Donate All Proceeds Earned This Friday to the ACLU
We’ve spoken at length about our love of Bandcamp before, but this really seals the deal: the streaming and download service has announced that they’ll donate 100% of the proceeds they earn this Friday, February 3 to the ACLU. (This oughta go without saying, but in case it’s not clear, that’s 100% of Bandcamp’s earnings from each sale… they obviously cannot and will not be giving away the artists’ share.)
So what does that mean for you? It means that this Friday you can buy tons of digital music, legally, at the highest possible quality (including 320 kbps mp3s and FLAC files), and not only will you be supporting bands you dig, but you’ll be supporting a great cause, too.
We’ll remind you this is happening Friday, but in the meantime, you can read all of Bandcamp’s statement on the matter here. For now, find links to some of the prominent metal labels that have their entire catalogue, or damn near close to their entire catalogue, for sale on Bandcamp. You can find a much more thorough listing of metal available on Bandcamp here.
