Video: James Hetfield Reacts to Celebrities Wearing Metallica T-Shirts

The Kardashians, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Chris Brown… the list of celebrities wearing metal t-shirts continues to grow, and Internet Metal Nerds continue to rage over the apparent injustice of normies ruining their insular culture.

The most commonly worn metal shirts are, of course, Metallica; they’re the biggest metal band of all time and there will never be another band like ’em. So Buzzfeed Mexico got James Hetfield in front of a camera, showed him a bunch of photos of very famous people wearing his band’s t-shirts, and filmed his reactions. They’re pretty funny.

Ryan Gosling, Kim Kardashian (who he jokingly calls “Kanye West in drag”), Avril Lavigne and Taylor Momsen, among others, all get the Papa Het commentary. But by far the best segment involves Michael Clifford of pop sensations 5 Seconds of Summer wearing a shirt from the Road / Reload era, a decision Hetfield astutely calls “ballsy.” At least he’s aware, ya know?

Also: James Hetfield has never heard of reggaeton. Wow.
