The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Dissociation Was Almost a Double Album; Other Songs to be Released at Some Point
We’ve all been assuming that Dissociation is going to be the last Dillinger Escape Plan album until they make their Sol Invictus circa 2031. As it turns out, though, we may not have to wait that long for another DEP record. A new article on Independent reveals…
“Apart from touring extensively for the remainder of 2016 and well into 2017, there is one more enticing piece of information that may ease the sting in the tail for those despondent over the band’s hiatus. For the first time, Dillinger wrote and recorded far more material than has ended up on the record and [guitarist Ben] Weinman is adamant that these songs will see the light of day at some point. Plans to release all the material as a double album were scrapped early on in the interests of making a cohesive album rather than simply throwing everything the band had available in to the mix.”
So that’s not bad news, eh? The only bummer is, assuming this material is released after the band is done touring, we won’t get to hear any of those songs performed live… until circa 2031, that is. But, hey, worse things have happened… it’s not like any of us will be worse off for having more DEP music in our lives.
