Don’t Deprive Yourself, Stream Gatecreeper’s Sonoran Depravation

No joke: earlier today I was at lunch with Vince and Dave Mustein, and we were talking about bands that don’t reinvent the wheel but get a pass because they write awesome riffs and totally “get it,” and either Vince or Dave cited Gatecreeper as an example.

I can’t remember which one, but I’m gonna totally steal the dude’s line now: Gatecreeper aren’t reinventing the death metal wheel, by BY SATAN’S NUT HAIRS, they know how to write a tasty fucking riff. The band’s Relapse debut, Sonoran Depravation, is one of those DM albums that proves you can be steroidal and jubilant at the same time. If you had a shit day, you can listen to this record and fantasize about being Godzilla; if you had a good day, you can listen to this record and just groove out, man.
