Metallica’s new album Hardwired… To Self-Destruct will come out on November 18.
First listen verdict: it’s good! It’s a fast thrasher, in line with what most fans of classic ‘Tallica are probably hoping for. The riffs are solid and it’s got some good hooks; it’s a quick one, too, clocking in at just over 3 minutes. Mercifully, the production issues that’ve haunted Metallica’s past two albums — the tin-can sound of St. Anger and the brickwalled mixing/mastering of Death Magnetic — have been completely left in the past. This track sounds really fucking good, in line with modern metal production but not over-produced. So, all in all, I’d say it’s looking pretty good for the new album if this track is a harbinger of what”s to come!

Produced by Greg Fidelman, along with James and Lars, this is our 11th studio album and is available for pre-order in a variety of configurations including 12 songs on a double CD, vinyl, digital download, as well as a deluxe version with the riffs that were the origins of the album.
