Here’s The Earliest Known Live Footage of Tool
These days, it’s easy to think of Tool as arguably the greatest hard rock band to come out of the ’90s. But we should never forget that Tool, like all other bands, had to play their share of crappy little gigs when they started.
Footage of one such gig has surface, which is, according to the YouTube poster Ricky Oliphant, the earliest live footage of Tool available. It shows the band playing “Hush” as an opening act for Too Free Stooges at Club With No Name in Hollywood on October 7th, 1991. It’s interesting that even at this show, the band seems confident and dominant.
Interestingly enough, Maynard’s stage moves actually make him look far more like a crotchety old man than he has in years. The way he’s bent over and swinging his arm seems to say, Keep those fuckin’ rug rats of yours offa my lawn!
Check out Tool when they were just a band below, you insufferable retards.
