Stream Tomb Mold’s Awesome The Bottomless Perdition Demo
Not all bands should be heard in demo form. As much as I enjoy seeing a bunch of rare studio rehearsal tracks at the end of a special edition, I rarely find these cuts enjoyable to listen to. But certain bands–especially old school death metal bands–are just made for a lo-fi demo recording. That murkiness only adds to their gross, grinding sound.
Toronto’s Tomb Mold–good name–is one such band. They’re currently streaming their four-song demo The Bottomless Perdition, and damn if it isn’t cool as Hell. The band’s music is interesting, dynamic, and menacing, and the demo tape production only makes it sound even more grimy and crushing. While I’m definitely interested to hear what the band does in the future–they’ve apparently got an LP on the way–I’m also happy to just jam this demo a whole bunch. It gets the job done.
