Nails Cancel UK Shows, Go On Sudden Hiatus
It appears that California powerviolence trio Nails have gone on a sudden hiatus. Metal Hammer reports that the band has cancelled their upcoming UK shows with Full of Hell, including their much-publicized event at the Camden Underworld. On the event page for that show, the following was posted:
CANCELLED // Unfortunately the show Nails plus Full of Hell on 7th November has now been CANCELLED due to the band going on sudden hiatus. Full ticket refunds are available from point of purchase.
This is, of course, pretty unusual. Nails’ latest, You Will Never Be One Of Us, came out only last month, and its release was surrounded by tons of critical acclaim and good press (though our own intrepid editor Axl Rosenberg noted in June that he’s not a fan of frontman Todd Jones’ attitude and the band’s social media behavior).
Could this be some sort of publicity stunt, to maintain the band’s image of volatility? I sincerely doubt that. Given the sheer amount of momentum the band has right now, they must have some pretty serious reasons for bowing out right now.
More as it comes.
