Video: Classical Music Fans React to Metal

0

Classical music has always had ties to heavy metal — the grandiosity, the technicality, the sturm und drang. But over the ages, fans of these genres have been portrayed as residing at either end of the intellectual pole, with classical fans depicted as snobby wieners and metalheads as braindead brutes. It got us wondering: what would your average symphony attendee really think of extreme metal?

So we decided to find out. When the Colorado Symphony Orchestra came to the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO, we stopped a few fans in attendance, asked them their thoughts about metal, and got their opinions on a little Cryptopsy. The results were interesting — especially when a metalhead biker rolled through!

Check out the video below. Is there a composer you consider metal who didn’t make it in? Let us know in the comments section.
