Gone is Gone Rock Out by “Starlight”
What’d you guys think of that first new Gone Is Gone track, “Violescent”? It wasn’t my favorite new track, but I was surprised how much I dug it. Not that I necessarily should have been, given that the band’s members have such an esteemed background–it includes members of Mastodon, Queens of the Stone Age, and At the Drive In–but supergroups are often decent at best. These guys rock.
The band has released a new single, “Starlight,” via its video. While “Violescent” was a bit more grinding and crunchy (sound crunchy, not liberal arts college crunchy), “Starlight” is a bit more eerie and psychedelic, simmering a bit more before it breaks into a soaring emotional chorus. Fans of the Deftones will dig on this hard.
Listen to/watch “Starlight” below. The band’s self-titled debut comes out July 8th on Rise. You can pre-order it here.
