This Was Bound To Happen: There Are Ghost Halloween Masks Now
Trick or Treat Studios has taken the metal-themed Halloween mask market by storm. They’ve created masks of the Motörhead Warpig, Iron Maiden’s Eddie, Alice Cooper, and even the goat-thing from the cover of Venom’s Black Metal.
So you knew it was only a matter of time before they made Ghost masks, which they now have. You can now pre-order masks of Papa II and the Nameless Ghouls, as well as Papa II’s satanic mitre. The masks start at $60, while the mitre is a scant $40.
The thing is, while the Ghoul mask and the mitre make sense, it seems sort of ridiculous to wear a mask of Papa Emertitus, doesn’t it? As with the Alice Cooper mask, I’m not sure anyone wants to wear the exact facial features of that figure. Why not instead just paint your face with the design instead? Are you really worried no one’s going to think you’re actually Papa Emeritus? In general, overhead masks are a sweaty pain in the ass, so unless they’re for something you just can’t do with make-up–the Warpig, for instance–they’re more trouble than they’re worth.
But hey, if you’re a diehard fan and collector, then have at it, hoss. All that really matters is that none of these masks are as horrific or expensive as this hideous Gene Simmons mask.
