Stream Cult of Luna and Julie Christmas’ Mariner, One of 2016’s Best Albums So Far
The idea of Cult of Luna and Julie Christmas collaborating on a record together seems too good to be true. And yet, that record is a really real thing, and really really good thing, too. I’ve listened to Mariner more times than any other single new release of 2016 thus far (and it has yet to wear out its welcome). It’s one of those works of art that works both as simple, immediate, surface-level entertainment and a deeper, more challenging, more meaningful reflection of the human experience — which is to say, you can either just rock out to it, or you become deeply immersed in its roller coaster ride of emotion. It works just as well either way.
So however you wanna approach it, you should do yourself a favor and listen to Mariner below, courtesy of Noisey (who debuted the record alongside an excellent new interview with Ms. Christmas). The album comes out April 15 — just one week from tomorrow! — on Indie.
