“How Becoming” of Lillake to Post This Weird New Track

Earlier this month, we posted about Lillake, the new band featuring members of Suicidal Tendencies and Entheos, who have also formerly played with The Faceless. Well, now the band has posted a single, “How Becoming,” that you can listen to below.

The track is… well, it’s funky. It reminds me of the more bizarre stuff coming out during Suicidal Tendencies’ days (Voivod, Infectious Grooves) with influences from modern progressive metal (Gojira, Cynic). My problem is that it feels a bit like one long-ass fuse that goes out right before it reaches the bomb. There’s a slow, building crawl that never breaks and really opens up. Which is a shame because, given the band members’ pedigrees, I bet that moment would be really fucking insane!
