Exclusive Track Premiere: Gadget’s “I Don’t Need You — Dead and Gone”
On March 4, Relapse Records will release Swedish grindcore stalwarts Gadget’s first full-length album in more than a decade, The Great Destroyer. And talk about truth in advertising: featuring seventeen blistering tracks with all the warmth and kindness of a rabid doberman and a guest appearance from Napalm Death’s Barney Greenway (which is just about the most prestigious endorsement a grind band can hope for), The Great Destroyer will, indeed, destroy you. Greatly.
Which is why, naturally, MetalSucks jumped at the chance to debut “I Don’t Need You — Dead and Gone,” the closing track from The Great Destroyer. How to describe the power of this song? It’s kinda like the death of Cyrus the Virus in Con Air — stabbed through the foot with a spear, thrown from a moving vehicle onto live electrical wires, and then crushed by some giant machine created for the purpose of crushing things, “I Don’t Need You — Dead and Gone” is pure overkill… and we mean that as high praise.
