Here’s Lemmy In A Finnish Milk Commercial He Filmed Just Before His Death
UPDATE: Commenter valski666 pointed out to us that Lemmy’s commercial is actually a parody of a classic Valio commercial. For comparison, we’ve included the original commercial beneath Lemmy’s. Enjoy.
Weeks before his recent passing, Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister shot a commercial for Finnish milk company Valio. Now, the makers of the commercial have released the footage as a tribute to him. You can watch it below.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, agency boss Jussi Lindholm said the following of the ad:
“We were in the middle of post-production when the news about Lemmy broke. We discussed not airing the ad, but we had footage that was not part of the original script which crystallised Lemmy’s spirit, so we agreed to change it and make a tribute.
“We are profoundly grateful to have worked with him, and that Lemmy’s management feel good about the result.”
Watching the commercial now is a bittersweet experience. On the one hand, Lemmy looks frail, walks with a cane, and talks about how he never drank milk, which seems like a shot at his failing health. On the other hand, it ends with Lemmy calling the viewer an asshole and breaking into a grin, reminding us that the dude had it until the last.
Anyway, check out the commercial. Lemmy’s funeral service will be broadcast on the web this Saturday, and his subsequent memorial will take over the entire Sunset Strip.
