Writing and Recording of New Tool Album Delayed Again While Maynard Rearranges His Sock Drawer
Despite successfully reuniting this past weekend for a Halloween show, complete with the debut of a new song, Tool fans are going to have keep waiting patiently for the band’s new album.
Inside sources close to the band, speaking on the condition of anonymity, tell MetalSucks that the band has once again had to halt work on the new record while vocalist Maynard James Keenan focuses on rearranging his sock drawer.
“Obviously, Maynard is aware that the fans are waiting,” says our source. “But he feels like his sock drawer really demands all of his creative focus right now. And since Danny [Carey, drummer] took a hiatus in 2010 to hire a new dog walker, no one in the band can really object to Maynard’s request.”
Still, the source assures us that progress on the album is being made: “They know that they definitely wanna have guitars, bass, drums and vocals on the album, and they know that it should have songs, too. So their vision for the record is all firmed up. Plus, this summer, Adam [Jones, guitarist] figured out the optimal route from his house to the studio, and Justin [Chancellor, bassist] finally found his phone. So it seems clear that they’re going to be ready to begin work in earnest just as soon as Maynard has his sock situation sorted out.”
