Intronaut’s Get Up To Some “Digital Gerrymandering”

0

For the record, to gerrymander is to manipulate the boundaries of something — usually an electoral constituency — to favor a specific party or class. It actually comes from mixing the name of a former Massachusetts governor and the word ‘salamander.’

ANYWAY, the new Intronaut track, “Digital Gerrymandering”, is what you’ve come to expect from the LA prog metal band. There’s some really intense, gripping heaviness, but also plenty of spacey guitars and vocodered group vocals. The overall effect certainly gerrymanders the common genre boundaries of metal, which one assumes is Intronaut’s intention. Given that the album it’s from, The Direction of Last Things, was mixed by Devin Townsend, it’s unsurprising that it’s so intense and unorthodox.

Listen to “Digital Gerrymandering” below. The Direction of Last Things comes out Friday the 13th of November. The band tours next month with Between The Buried And Me and Enslaved, so definitely check out dates here.
