Woah, What Is ‘Metalocalypse Now’ Counting Down To?

At a glance, Metalocalypse Now appears to be the same group of people who started the petition to have Metalocalypse saved and put on Hulu. But now it appears that there’s something crazier afoot.

Which in turn leads to this website and the countdown clock pictured above.

So… what the fuck are they counting down to? Is it an announcement that the show is back? Is it a new petition or crowdfunding campaign to get the show brought to another network?

I’m hoping and praying it’s the former, and someone has been smart enough to snap up the show. There’s obviously a market for it — Comedy Central’s new animated show Moonbeam City cribs heavily from Metalocalypse in animation style and aesthetic dedication (they just replaced extreme metal with the art of Patrick Nagel), so they obviously recognize that Small was doing something right. And besides, metalheads are ravenous for metal culture. Now that you’ve kept the show from us, we’re hungrier than ever for more.

Anyway, we’ll let you know if we hear anything else; until then, I’ll be watching the countdown and driving myself crazy wondering what it’s for. What’s going on, guys? WHAT’S IN THE BOX?!
