Coheed and Cambria Went From “Here to Mars”
When Coheed and Cambria announced their new album The Color Before the Sun they made a big deal out of the fact that it would be the band’s first that wasn’t a part of the whole Amory Wars conceptual storyline. And that IS a big deal, since that story has become a big part of the C&C mythos.
But then I listened to the first song they released from the album, “You Got Spirit Kid.” And now I’m listening to another new one called “Here to Mars.” Not only have I not paid any attention to the lyrics of either one, but I’m realizing I never listened to Coheed and Cambria’s lyrics in the past either. It really doesn’t matter to me either way! I come for the music — which sounds distinctly and unmistakably like Coheed and Cambria, no one else — and as long as that’s good, so are we. This band could be singing about poop and farts and I’d probably like it just the same / wouldn’t even know.
So, here’s “Here to Mars,” via Rolling Stone. It’s a sweet song, and I’m sure if you like Coheed and Cambria you’ll agree, otherwise not. Check it out in lyric video form below.
The Color Before the Sun comes out October 9th via 300 Entertainment; pre-order here. Fall Coheed tour dates here.
