Black Sabbath Announce Final Tour
Black Sabbath have announced what they are claiming will be their final tour. I say “claiming” because, well… Ozzy has been saying he’s gonna retire since 1992 (at least). Also: a final tour doesn’t necessarily mean the band will no longer play individual shows. Also also: Bill Ward isn’t involved, natch, so for a lot of us, the band’s real farewell tour was Ozzfest 2005, when all four original members shared a stage for the last time.
Still, if this really is the band’s last tour, that’s a big deal: the final tour by the first metal band of all time. Metal is a relatively new genre in the scheme of things, so this feels significant. Our founding fathers are retiring. We’re all grown-up.
