“Until the World Goes Cold:” Are Trivium Destined for Breakout Radio Success?
If Trivium are ever gonna have a shot at a big-time breakout smash at modern rock radio, “Until the World Goes Cold” is probably it. Like other more mainstream-friendly metal bands that have crossed over into that territory — All That Remains, Five Finger Death Punch, etc — Trivium have gone with their slower, more melodic side here. Can Trivium match the success achieved by those two bands? Who knows, but this seems like as good a shot as any.
The pros: It’s a super catchy tune! Well-written and with a sing-along hook in the chorus. Still sounds like the band who wrote it.
The cons: All that auto-tune! Why?? Matt Heafy’s voice is fantastic on its own. Maybe the powers that be decided it was necessary for radio?
