Five Finger Death Punch Vocalist Ivan Moody’s Wife Accuses Him of Domestic Violence, Files For Divorce
Update #1, 5:51 p.m.: Moody’s Five Finger Death Punch bandmate, guitarist Zoltan Bathory, now claims there’s no way this story is true — because Moody isn’t even married. Read his statement here.
Update #2, 8/13/15, 9:55 a.m.: Now another new report has emerged, this one claiming that Moody’s own sister and mother have filed restraining orders against him. Get all the details here.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Five Finger Death Punch singer Ivan Moody has been accused of domestic violence by his wife, Holly Smith. Subsequently, Smith is filing for divorce.
Apparently, during a stay in Las Vegas, Smith accused her husband of sleeping around when she found texts from other women in his phone. Eventually, the couple went to bed together, but Smith claims she awoke to find herself in a jiujitsu submission hold, and that Moody then punched her repeatedly and choked her with a hotel blanket.
Moody was arrested for domestic violence, but charges were dropped. However, the documents in question apparently contain photographs of Smith with a bloody eye among other injuries.
Before a ton of gross speculation and victim-blaming begins, yes, Smith is asking for financial support from Moody, who she claims makes over $700k a year from FFDP. But given Ivan Moody’s public persona–that of a tough guy who leads the ultimate Tough Guy Band–it’s not hard to imagine living in fear of him or that he might do something really, really shitty while emotionally compromised.
We’ll let you know the facts as we get them.
