Get Your Finnish Melodeath Fix with Wolfheart’s “Aeon of Cold”

We love a good success story. So when we learned that MetalSucks Unsigned and Unholy alumni Wolfheart had been picked up by Finnish-based international label powerhouse Spinefarm Records since they were first featured here in 2013, we were delighted!

Wolfheart is in fact a solo project helmed by Tuomas Saukkonen, formerly of Before the Dawn and Black Sun Aeon. Spinefarm scooped him up after the homeland success of the debut Wolfheart album Winterborn, and now he’s back with Shadow World, due August 21st.

Wolfheart bring just the kind of melodeath we need sometimes: straight forward, no bullshit. Sure, they aren’t exactly reinventing the wheel, but Saukkonen is a damn good songwriter that’s got this art completely nailed without any of the cheese that often accompanies this kind of music. I’d listen to a full album of this stuff any day of the week. Decibel premiered the video for “Aeon of Cold” last month and we slept on it because… well, we’re dumb dumbs. Check it out below.
