The Brand New Children of Bodom Song “Morrigan” Sounds like Children of Bodom
Guitarist Roope Latvala left Children of Bodom in May and, no offense to Latvala — who is most certainly a talented player — the metal world collectively shrugged. Bodom has always been Alexi Laiho’s baby and always will be, the way The Faceless is Michael Keene’s, NIN is Trent Reznor’s, and so on and so forth. Bodom gonna sound like Bodom as long as Alexi’s in the fold.
Children of Bodom just released a new song called “Morrigan,” and guess what? It sounds like Children of Bodom! Who’dathunkit?? It’s a solid enough song that has all the hallmarks of classic Bodom — a band near and dear to my heart — but if I’m being honest it feels like Alexi’s been coasting for some time now; it’d be nice to hear him take some risks and change up the formula just a little teensy bit.
I Worship Chaos — Bodom’s NINTH (!) studio album — will be released on October 2nd via Nuclear Blast. Pre-order it here.
