Slayer Announce New Album Title, Release Date
Slayer have announced, via the below video, that their new album will be called Repentless, and will be released on 9/11.
Two things about this that amuse me:
- “Repentless” is not a real word. I guess they thought it had a better ring to it than “unrepentant.”
- Releasing an album called Repentless on 9/11 is a hilariously infantile attempt to get people riled up. I’m sure Marilyn Manson is crushed he didn’t think of it.
And before anyone says anything: yes, 9/11 is also the fourteenth anniversary of the release of God Hates Us All. That album coming out on THE 9/11 was obviously just a coincidence, and I doubt it has anything to do with the decision to release this album on 9/11 (especially since fan opinion on God Hates Us All is pretty split). But, hey, try to argue that the date and title aren’t a PR stunt if you must. You’ll be wrong, but you’re welcome to try!
