Stream Iris Divine’s New Classic Prog Metal Masterpiece, Karma Sown
We’d written about Iris Divine as an unsigned band worthy of your attention so many times over the past six years that I’d lost count, so it pleased me greatly to report earlier this month they’d landed a label deal and released a killer new single.
Someone pointed out in the comments on that post that the vocals sound a bit dated, and I guess I understand what that person means, although in this case I don’t feel like “dated” is a bad thing — it just calls to mind a particular era, maybe late ’90s / early ’00s prog. “Classic prog metal,” if you will. Which totally makes sense given this band’s influences: King’s X, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, and maybe even [newer] Avenged Sevenfold. Iris Divine aren’t really trying to be modern, they’re just attempting to write excellent music that they love, and if that music harks back to a different time and place, so be it! They happen to be really fucking good at it, IMO.
Brave Words has the stream of the entire new Iris Divine album Karma Sown, embedded below for your convenience. Fans of the above-referenced bands are gonna really love this the way I do.
Karma Sown comes out on March 31st via Sensory Records and The Laser’s Edge.
