MetalSucks has been running South by South Death, our official SXSW showcase, for five years now. What in the what?!?! Hard to believe this whole thing got kicked off in 2011 with the soothsaying lineup of Kvelertak (on their first ever U.S. tour), Havok, Red Fang, Wormrot and Meek is Murder. For some of the other killer lineups we’ve assembled in the past, dig this.

For year five we thought we’d make it bigger and better than ever, so we invited our friends at the legendary radio station WSOU — the only station in the U.S. offering round-the-clock quality metal programming — to be a part of the action. This being 2015, WSOU is, of course, available to stream live on the Internet no matter where you may live, which we highly suggest you do right now. Says WSOU program director Rohit Ravi, “WSOU is extremely excited to be returning to Austin for SXSW. As one of the premiere metal stations in the USA we could not be happier to partner with MetalSucks to present the heaviest show in Austin!”

With WSOU’s help we’ve assembled another fantastic lineup that, as always, is incredibly varied across the metal spectrum: Archspire, Elder, Allegaeon, Byzantine (NOBODY BEATS THE BYZ!) and Fallujah comprise the meat n’ potatoes of the bill, Norma Jean come back for their second South by South Death appearance to headline, and #softshred pioneer Myrone will get the party started. Don’t forget to wear your Zubaz, cause there’s gonna be plenty of shakin’ and dancin’ in that room!

Super-extra-special thanks to Mike Wohlberg for the incredible poster artwork above.

The action takes place on Wednesday, March 18th at The Dirty Dog in Austin, TX starting at 7pm. SXSW badge holders and wristbands will be let in for free, and there will be a limited number of tickets available to the general public at the door the day of the show only, so make sure you get there early (price TBD, but in the past it’s been a very reasonable $15). The venue is 21+ to enter.
