Police Report: Lita Ford’s Kids “Were Afraid Their Mother Would Kill Them”
The not-in-the-least-bit-amicable divorce between Lita Ford and former Nitro glass shatterer Jim Gillette somehow just gets creepier and creepier. The latest: following last week’s news that Gillette currently has sole custody of the couple’s two children, and that Ford doesn’t even has visitation rights, the singer has now supplied Metal Sludge with the below Sheriff’s Office Report. And, yeah, it’s pretty upsetting: the kids themselves apparently told the police “they were afraid their mother would kill them” because she had “been violent toward” Gillette, despite the fact that Gillette himself had never been physically abusive (which conflicts with Ford’s own claims). And as if that wasn’t disturbing enough, when told that they were being left in Ford’s custody due to an injunction, both boys burst into tears.
Now, it’s possible, I suppose, that they had been coached by Gillette… but I’m willing to give the police the benefit of the doubt that they’d see right through any such charade — especially given that, according to Gillette…
“Remember, this divorce lasted nearly 2 years. This included, psychiatric evaluations of all parties. A plethora of doctors, psychiatrists and other professionals that had all of us under a microscope. There was no way Lita or I could have deceived them for that long.”
Which I suspect is accurate.
Although the report makes no mention of the boys accusing Ford of hitting either of them, Gillette tells Metal Sludge that they have been the victims of “constant verbal, mental, and physical abuse” from Ford.
It’ll be interesting to see if Ford responds to these allegations. In the meantime, you can read the rest of Metal Sludge’s interview with Gillette here.
