Exclusive Track Premiere: Fulgora’s “Meridian”
This past July, the editors of MetalSucks hand-picked five unsigned bands from an open application process to record with producer Will Putney at Converse Rubber Tracks in Brooklyn, NY, Converse’s completely free, state-of-the-art recording studio. In the weeks leading up to the recording sessions we previewed each band, and now we’ve premiered the finished tracks from all five! Today we feature Fulgora from St. Louis and Baltimore.
MetalSucks has been backing Fulgora since they first came to our attention more than two years ago. Sure, the band’s pedigree is impressive (cousins Adam and John Jarvis also play in Pig Destroyer together, while Adam is also also a member of Misery Index and John is also also a member of Agoraphobic Nosebleed), but that wouldn’t mean much if their music didn’t wreck. But Fulgora’s music does wreck, and hard: forget a bull in a china shop, this is more like a bull in a china shop trying to dodge flying, electrified circle saws being shot at him from a cannon. While we tend to think of grindcore as genre dominated by a punkish, messy sound, Fulgora’s attack is precise, dominated by right angles and sharp, exposed edges.
Little wonder, then, that since selecting them for our collaboration with Converse Rubber Tracks this past summer, Fulgora have been signed by Phil Anselmo’s Housecore Records! MetalSucks can now exclusively reveal that the label will release Fulgora’s debut full-length, Stratagem, on Febuary 3, 2015, and will include “Meridian,” the band’s new-asshole-ripping contribution to Converse Rubber Tracks x MetalSucks. ‘Tis but a flesh wound compared to the damage Stratagem will bring, and we’re confident you’re all gonna love it as much as we do. So turn your speakers all the way up and get ready to rock ’til your fucking brain explodes!!!
