Ola Englund (The Haunted, ex-Six Feet Under) and Kerim “Krimh” Lechner (ex-Decapitated) Have Sand in their Eldvåg
Ola Englund (The Haunted, ex-Six Feet Under) is fast turning into one of those metal musicians with Kevin Bacon Syndrome — by which I mean, they’ve worked with so many goddamn people, you can connect them to practically anyone. I don’t mean this as an insult — these dudes are usually in high demand for a reason. Englund joins an elite club already populated by dudes like Dave Witte and Kevin Talley. Not bad company in which to find oneself.
Englund’s latest collaboration with other notable musician arrives in the form of Eldvåg, a new project he’s started with former Decapitated drummer Kerim “Krimh” Lechner. And while they are currently seeking a vocalist (more on that in a minute), they’ve already released their debut, untitled song — presumably a demo they mean to put vocals over later. In any case, it’s… okay? I’m a big fan of both of these dudes, but the song seems a little generic and repetitive to me.
Still, its worth watching the video via which the track has been released, just because its always fun to watch musicians this graceful play.
So, about that vocalist position! They are open to the general public, so if you think you have what it takes, y’know, get on it right now. According to Englund, “We’re not searching for any particular kind of vocalist… It could be clean, opera, growling you name it. We want to hear it all.” So don’t rule yourself out just because you’re not a screamer.
Here’s how to audition:
- Download the song here.
- Record your vocals over it.
- Upload your version of the song to YouTube or Soundcloud with the tag #eldvag.
- Sacrifice a goat to The Dark Lord and hope for the best.
And that’s it! Good luck to all you aspiring singers out there. Keep your fingers crossed that this dude doesn’t throw his hat into the ring, ’cause if he does, you’re all fucked.
