Job for a Cowboy Release New Single, Announce New Album!
LET’S HEAR IT FOR UPTOWN PROBLEMS!!!
The already overwhelmingly-awesome fall season just got overwhelmingly-awesomer: Job for a Cowboy have announced a November 11 release date for their new album, Sun Eater. Here’s the album art, which is fucking gorgeous:
But wait! THERE’S MORE!!! The band has also released the first single from the album, “Sun of Nihility” (I’m sensing a theme to this album). I’m thrilled to report that the band’s artistic evolution continues: “Nihility” is way different from anything the band has done so far. I hesitate to even call it death metal — it’s really more of a melodoom song, just a couple of steps removed from Swallow the Sun and Daylight Dies.
It also sounds as though the band is moving even further in the direction of prog than they did on 2012’s stupendous Demonocracy. Tony Sannicandro shreds so fast he liquifies the guitar neck! Nick Schendzielos’ bass is so slinky it can walk down stairs, and you can actually hear it in the mix! That very special (and characteristically kick-ass) drum performance from Danny Walker (Intronaut, Uphill Battle)! This band has a come a long way from the days of that creepy ginger with the shit in his ears.
Stream “Sun of Nihility” below, then go here to pre-order Sun Eater in advance of its November 11 release date! I have no doubt that it’s gonna be great.
