Between the Buried and Me are Writing a Rock Opera!
No matter that Between the Buried and Me are about to release a live DVD/BluRay set called Future Sequence: Live at Fidelitorium on September 30th (pre-order here). No matter that Trioscapes, bassist Dan Briggs’ jazz fusion side project, just released a full album. No matter that guitarist Paul Waggoner spends his entire Sundays in front of a TV set watching grown men beat the crap out of each other, then writes about it in this year’s Necessary Roughness NFL column for MetalSucks. When you’re in one of the biggest modern metal bands in all the world the show must go on! That new music ain’t gonna write itself.
The band is now doing exactly that, if their official Twitter account is to be believed (and why wouldn’t it be?). BTBAM gathered yesterday in what we can only guess is their native North Carolina to begin writing the follow-up to 2012’s The Parallax II: Future Sequence, according to a post on the band’s official Twitter account:
It has begun! #rockoperapic.twitter.com/yiLSYwZDAi

That’s exciting news, yeah? Especially the part about it possibly being a rock opera. It’s definitely time for BTBAM to push boundaries once again and try something completely outside of their comfort zone; if anyone can pull off a modern-day metal opera, it’s them. Add it to the list of potentially great releases coming in 2015.
