Hilarious Video: A Day To Remember’s Neil Westfall Learns “How To Be Metal”

If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.

A Day to Remember have their fair share of detractors. They roll with the metal crowd (sometimes) — as they did with Machine Head and Amon Amarth this past weekend at the Elbriot Festival in Hamburg, Germany — but they’re essentially a pop-punk band with metal-sounding guitars, and they catch quite a lot of flack from “metal” purists. Check out some songs of theirs at the end of this post if you’re not already familiar.

ADTR guitarist Neil Westfall decided to have a little fun at his own expense when he headed out into the crowd with a video crew at the Elbriot Festival to learn how to be metal. Beer! Metal t-shirt! Horns! Headbanging! Neil catches on quickly, although by far the best moment in this video comes when he asks some metal fans in bunny suits that don’t recognize him whether A Day To Remember are metal or not.
