Producer Glenn Fricker Rages Against the Machine(s You Use to Make Your Terrible Band Sound Better)

Terrific news: the great Glenn Fricker from Spectre Sound Studios — he of “How to Get Your Band Ready for the Studio,” “How to Hold a Microphone” and “Bananadyne Microphone Enhancer” fame — is now making videos for our sister site, Gear Gods!!! And for his inaugural collaboration with the web’s only gear site made specifically for metal musicians, Glenn has taken aim at one of MetalSucks’ biggest pet peeves: the utilization of technology to make shitty bands sound better. From auto-tune to programs like GuitarPro and Beat Detective, this is a trend which has to stop, like, last year. Glenn’s mantra in this video is that the “technology [which] has taken the place of talent” is being used to make recordings which are “bland, stale, and ‘technically perfect’,” but totally boring — and “the fans deserve better.” We couldn’t agree more!
