The Deth Knight Rises
As the MetalSucks Mansion’s resident Batman mega-nerd, I was delighted to see this totally killer fan-made video for Dethklok’s “Face Fisted,” which reimagines the band as a Batman-led, Robin-supported entity. In fact, my only complaint is SUPER geeky. See, in the clip, Batman’s band consists of three current or former Robins:
- The original Robin, Dick Grayson — now known as Nightwing — is on guitar.
- Grayson’s successor, Jason Todd, now known as Red Hood, is on bass.
- I assume that’s meant to be Grayson’s successor, Tim Drake, on drums.
I say “I assume” because, well… that’s where the whole problem comes in! The drummer could very well be Bruce Wayne’s son, Damian Wayne, who became the fourth Robin, while Tim Drake went on to become Red Robin. I don’t know why Drake and Damian haven’t both been included — their costumes are different enough, and Dethklok has five members, so one of them could easily have been slid into the second guitarist’s position.
(And that’s not even counting Carrie Kelley, who becomes Robin in The Dark Knight Returns, Stephanie Brown, who Robin for a hot minute after Drake, or, Christ help us all, Robin John Blake, Joseph Gordon Levitt’s character from The Dark Knight Rises.)
ANYWAY, other than that, I love this.
I’ll slink back to my Lair of Eternal Virginity now.
