AFI’s Davey Havok and Jade Puget Launche Straight Edge Hardcore Band XTRMST
Hard to believe in the “Miss Murder” era, but once upon a time, AFI were a straight edge hardcore band. So it’s not really that strange that two of the band’s members, vocalist Davey Havok and guitarist Jade Puget, have started a new straight edge hardcore band, XTRMST (the lack of vowels is symbolic of the band’s lack of drug and alcohol use). I mean, sure, this is sorta like if Trey Azagthoth and David Vincent announced they were starting a new death metal band. But then again, you don’t wanna listen to Ilud Divinum Insanus either, so would you be able to blame ’em?
ANYWAY, Havok and Puget’s XTRMST have released a four song demo, which you can check out below. It’s fine. You’ll hear worse music this week. But it’s no new Xibalba song, I’ll tell you that much.
