Bloodbath Drop Another Hint as to the Identity of their New Vocalist
Who is the new vocalist for Bloodbath? Last week, we learned that whomever he is, he was born in 1971… and now the band has narrowed the list down for us a little more, via this Facebook post:
Of course, saying a metal musician has a beard is like saying a metal musician breathes oxygen. It doesn’t really give us much to go on.
But just for fun, I’m gonna share a little theory with you. After the first hint was dropped last week, reader Josh M. sent me an e-mail pointing out the following:
- We figured out the new vocalist was born in 1971 because the band released a list of disasters and tragedies, all of which occurred that year — but no two of which took place in the same country. Therefore, we can deduce that the singer’s place of birth took place in yet another country not already included on the list.
- None of the listed tragedies took place in the United States.
- Novembers Doom vocalist Paul Kuhr was born in December of ’71 in the United States.
We’ve assumed, until now, that the new guy was Swedish, because all of Bloodbath’s members up ’til now have been Swedish — but Josh’s argument makes sense.
Still — and I say this with all due respect to Kuhr — the gentleman in the above photo appears to have a somewhat thinner chin than the Novembers Doom vocalist. Then again, the gray-to-colored hair ratio and placement seems about right. Hm… I just don’t know.
Update, 2:14: A reader in the comments section has pointed out that Kuhr has lost a ton of weight, so the size of the chin in the above photo is a non-issue. Another reader theorizes that it’s Jörgen Sandström from Entombed, Grave, The Project Hate, etc. He’s Swedish and was born in 1971, so it’s not a bad guess, actually…
