This Statue Would Have Made Kurt Cobain Weep

Kurt Cobain hated his hometown of Aberdeen, Washington. So in weird way, the fact that Aberdeen has now chosen to pay tribute to Cobain via the single ugliest sculpture ever made outside of a grade school art class is appropriate — not only because it looks so incredibly amateurish as to be insulting, but because it represents a complete misunderstanding of who Cobain was. I mean… a TEAR? Seriously?!?!

This local new report on the station’s unveiling makes the whole thing even stranger, in no small part because this is the intro:

“Kurt Cobain, the lead singer of Nirvana, was a well-known heroin addict who shot himself nearly twenty years ago.”

Well, that’s one way to kick off a tribute.
