If You Live on the West Coast, in Texas or in Mexico You Get to See Tool Live This Spring
Tool announced a handful of shows a couple weeks back, and while any movement in the notoriously lethargic Tool camp is noteworthy we didn’t report on it because a “tour” with just a half-dozen shows seemed anti-climatic. Now that the mercurial band has added a few more dates to the run it seems a bit more significant, although admittedly… come on, what a cock-tease! Still, if you live on/near the West Coast, Texas or Mexico, you lucky duck, you. Here are the dates:
03/04 Spokane, WA @ Spokane Arena
03/06 Portland, OR @ MODA Center
03/07 Eugene, OR @ Matthew Knight Arena
03/09 Reno, NV @ Reno Event Center
03/11 San Francisco, CA @ Bill Graham Civic Auditorium
03/12 San Francisco, CA @ Bill Graham Civic Auditorium
03/14 Fresno, CA @ Selland Arena
03/15 Las Vegas, NV @ Planet Hollywood
03/16 San Diego, CA @ Valley View Arena
03/18 Mexico City, MEX @– Palacio De Los Deportes
03/21 Veracruz, MEX @ Festival Cumbre Tajin
03/24 Austin, TX @ Cedar Park Center
03/25 Houston, TX @ Toyota Center
03/27 Phoenix, AZ @ US Airways Center
As much as I love Tool and think their live show is the absolute bees knees, I don’t know if I’d shell out $100 to see them right now. They’ve been touring with the same live show for over five years now, and I’ve seen it enough times. I think I’m all set on live Tool until there’s new music and a brand new stage show. Unless, um, you know, someone happened to float a pair of tix my way… I certainly wouldn’t say no.
The elephant in the room, of course: when will we get new Tool music? Every few months the band releases some kind of non-update update, but from what I can gather they’re currently writing, maybe even close to done writing. Forecast for a new album in 2014 seems unlikely but there’s a chance!
