The Haunted Enter The Eye of the Storm
Dying to know what the new-but-mostly-old line-up of The Haunted sounds like? Well, you’re gonna find out very, very soon: The Haunted have announced that they’ll release a new three-song single entitled Eye of the Storm, later this month. They’re calling it a single and not an EP, I assume, because its total running time is barely more than eight minutes.
Oh, right — we’ve heard it! I haven’t discussed with Vince so I am only speaking for myself here, but I think it’s really good. They’re clearly going for a Made Me Do It vibe, which is unsurprising since this is this 4/5ths 3/5ths of the Made Me Do It-era line-up. If you’re one of those people who were unhappy with the direction of the last couple of The Haunted albums, you will be happy to hear them back in full-on groovy, thrashy melodeath mode here. I was skeptical they could pull it off without Anders Björler, but they seem perfectly capable of writing some cool shit without him.
Eye of the Storm comes out January 21 on Century Media in a variety of fun and fancy editions. You can get more details and pre-order info from The Haunted’s Facebook page.
