Sevendust Get Into the Crowdfunding Game
Ever heard Sevendust play acoustically before? Unsurprisingly, given the melodic nature of their music, it translates REALLY well. To wit:
So, good news: Sevendust are making an acoustic album! And not only will it feature acoustic versions of favorites from the band’s back catalog, it will also feature new material, which, presumably, was designed specifically for a lack of electricity, and will therefore be just that much better.
The album is being crowdfunded via Pledgemusic.com, and because the band is just that cool, they’ve promised that “5% of any money raised after the goal is reached will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.” That being said… I have no idea how much their goal is! It doesn’t say on the campaign’s homepage, or in the announcement video (below). All I know is that as of this writing, 158 people have pledged, and the band has reached 15% of their goal. There’s more than FOUR MONTHS left before the campaign ends, so it seems likely that 7D will ultimately be successful, however much it is they’re trying to raise.
In any case, you can go here to pledge and check out what goodies they’re giving away to donors. Presumably the album will be out sometime next year.
