Exclusive Track Premiere: “When Mind Escapes Flesh” by Ephel Duath
The cover art for Hemmed by Light, Shaped by Darkness, the latest album from Ephel Duath, is an excellent example of a visual image which represents the music perfectly. It’s equal parts classical and modern, depicting what appears to be some kind of forum or perhaps even a church that just barely adheres to the laws of physics and is undeniably beautiful and horrifying.
By way of example, MetalSucks is proud to present “When Mind Escapes Flesh,” a new track from Darkness. Davide Tiso’s experimental prog metal project now features vocalist Karyn Crisis (Crisis, Karyn Crisis Band), drummer Marco Minnemann (Kreator, Necrophagist), and bassist Bryan Beller (Dethklok, Joe Satriani), and, unsurprisingly, they’ve never sounded so dizzyingly off-kilter, magnificently hypnotic, and massively intimidating. It’s M.C. Escher’s bad trip in audio form.
