Nine Inch Nails Has Two Female Backing Vocalists Now
I can’t remember a metal (or metalish, I guess) band touring with female backing singers since Guns N’ Roses took a veritable six-person rock n’ roll circus out on the road with them for the Use Your Illusion tour… but Trent Reznor has now revealed that he’s hired a pair of R&B singers to back Nine Inch Nails on their currently-in-progress trek. According to The PRP, their names are Sharlotte Gibson (above right) and Lisa Fischer (above left), and between the two of them, they’ve done work with/for The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, and American Idol (don’t worry — not as a contestant).
And these ladies sound great! The song we get to hear them perform briefly in the below Instagram video is “All Time Low” from NIN’s new album, Hesitation Marks, and while the original studio recording doesn’t feature any backing vocals, it’s already pretty goddamn funky, and these women fit right in. (Can you imagine how killer a song like “Closer” will sound with these two contributing?) Check it out:
And here’s the original version, in case you haven’t heard it:
