R.I.P. Eyehategod Drummer Joey LaCaze

Joey LaCaze, drummer and founding member of Eyehategoad, has passed away at age forty-two, Invisible Oranges reports. He is survived by his wife and child. No additional details are available at this time, although according to Metal Insider, an unidentified friend of LaCaze has said the cancer was the cause of death.

The band had recently returned home from a European tour, and five U.S. dates scheduled for this fall, which were intended to celebrate the band’s twenty-fifth anniversary.

Our thoughts are with LaCaze’s family and friends during this difficult time. Although he is no longer with us, his legacy as a founding member of one of the greatest sludge metal bands of all time will surely live on.
